Nice Billet Turbos on the cheap side?
« on: April 15, 2011, 10:32:42 AM »
Was talking to a few of the honduh boys at our locak drag strip and they are all raving about these. Any one heard of or seen a better priced billet turbo out there? I know some of holsets came with billet wheels.

Seems like a guy could combine this turbo with a $30 DSM to t4 adapter and have a pretty nice setup.

FP has nice billet turbos but they're not on the cheap side. I'm not a fan of the adapter plates since it's 2 times more prone to leaking, also makes the setup look bad. I would just go with a billet wheel Holset with BEP housing.
6/4, built head, BC 280s, FP ex mani, HX-35 w/ BEP housing, custom 3" o2 w/ v band downpipe, full 3" ex, 31"x11"x3.5" intercooler w/ custom 2.5" piping, HKS bov, DW 300, 1600s, e-85, aero fpr, rota slips, Evo MR Bilsteins, jackal w/ SD

Hmm, that doesn't look all that bad at all.  You could take it to a turbo shop and have them machine a T3 housing in the A/R of your choice to fit the turbine wheel.  I'd probably just rock the t4 adapter though as I'm sure it's cheaper.

Do you have a link to where you read that? I'd been curious how much of a weight difference there really was. I'd think a lighter stronger wheel would be capable of faster speeds. I know thats not always the case.

Lol

Their own webpage man.

From my personal take, looks like it just widens the efficiency ranges, not longer just sooner.

Mostly recommended for high duty use applications, like buses and the sorts.

Good to know! From my point of view it sure doesn't justify the added cost. Although assuming the core material would be stronger you would think they could get more aggressive with design and angles. I'll look into them more 5 years form now when they are affordable.

thanks
