Suspension setup...describe yours.
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:40:45 AM »
What kind of suspension setups are you guys/gals running and how do you like it?

Last year I ran KYB GR-2 struts, Suspension Technique springs (1" drop), Megan racing front and rear strut bars, poly bushings on the front crossmember and control arms.  Only think different this year will be poly bushings in the rear and adjustable upper arms.

While obviously not a top of the line setup, its handled tons better than the blown stock setup and was still a very comfortable enjoyable ride.  I asked my wife if she was comfortable on the ride to and from the shootout and she said the ride was great.  (The ride in the DSM that is)

I'm currently rolling stock as well.  I have Eibach Pro-Kit springs waiting to go on, but I think I might just wait and do a coilover setup so I can run wider tires.  I also have a complete Energy Suspension bushing kit waiting as well, but you know the story on that one.

Stock struts with Tein S techs.  Honestly I love them.  I don't see where they get such a bad wrap from.

Last year I installed Eibach Sportline Springs with Kyb Agx Shocks/Struts. Gives the car a 1.8" drop and the ride height I was looking for.
It feels slightly stiff, even at the Agx's softest setting, but I love it.  Perfect for the drag strip 8)

Hoping to get some photos up in the 'car pics' section this weekend.

Back when I had my Eclipse, I upgraded to the Ebach Pro Kit and KYB AGX all the way around.  I loved it!  Launched better, and cornered like I was on rails.  Now I'm looking at Koni coil overs for my VR4, but kinda swaying toward buying KYBs again.  I don't think I want to lower the Galant an inch.  Furthermore, don't forget to replace bushings and engine mounts with prothane or energy suspension.  That made a night and day difference in handling.

I actually window welded all of my motor mounts.  Here one of these days I'm going to order the energy suspension bushing kit, front and rear strut tower braces and sway bars, ingalls rear camber kit, and a ton of other bracing, along with some decent coil-overs.  Should handle pretty beast then.

JIC Majic FLA-2 Coilovers.  Trust front strut tower brace.  Alignment bolts in the front struts.  new sway bar end links, tie rod ends and ball joints front and rear.  Poly front control arm bushings, sway bar bushings and motor mounts. 1.7deg negative camber up front and 1.1deg negative camber in the rear.  1/16th inch total toe out up front, 0 toe rear.  225/45/17 Hankook RS-3 tires.

I plan on getting the active toe eliminated, either with the Jays racing thing, or with the old sckool big washers welded in.

I plan on a bigger rear sway bar.  I plan on a good rear strut tower brace.

I'd like to do the 3piece cross member kit being worked on over at Tuners, and possibly the K member and control arms if it ends up being made how I like it.

As well, Lowell is working on rear control arms that look skookum too.

KYB AGX's w/ eiback prokits. 1" rear and piggy-back front sway bars.  Poly-graphite bushings.  Welded rear trailing arms (to remove active toe).  -2.25 camber w/ 1/16th toe out up front and -1.5 w/ 0 toe in the rear.  Was running BFG G-force KD's until one failed on me recently, now running an older set of snow tires.

Happy with this setup, a little bumpy but predictable and fairly neutral.

Miles, expand on this "piggyback" swaybar arrangement please?  With pics if at all possible.

I have thought about doing this on the rear cause you can get a used rear stock bar cheaper than even a used aftermarket one.
