2 piston calipers on 1991 awd...
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:09:27 AM »
I got some 2 piston calipers off a dodge stealth es in the junk yard.  Obviously they are bigger than the stock single pistons I currently have.  My question is, will these work on my car, and, what is the difference between these and the 2 piston calipers from a 1995-1999 awd?  Where the line connects in is not banjo bolted like on the 2Gb's, its the same as the 1G.
1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD-Ross 8:3.1 pistons, Eagle rods, ACL Race bearings, 2g small port head, HKS/Delta 272 cams, Evo springs/retainers, FP3065 @ 28psi (hopefully), FIC 1550's, Apex'i N1 turbo back exhaust, KYB GR-2's on Suspension Technnique springs, megan sturt bars, poly mounts/bushings

Direct replacement for your 1ga one piston calipers.  Your original lines will screw right in the 2-piston calipers of the non-turbo 3000gt's and stealth's.

The rotors are different though right?  So I will need to get new rotors and new pads, and use the brackets off the stealth as well right?

Now are the n/t stealth brakes the same as the 2Gb awd brakes or are they smaller?

Correct. Buy new rotors and pads to fit an N/A stealth (or 2g for that matter)... and yes you will need the stealth brackets as well.  I believe the N/A stealth/3000gt calipers are identical to the 1GB awd T/E/L's two piston calipers. They both use the standard flare fitting where the line attaches to the caliper, where the 2G two piston calipers use the banjo fitting.  This makes the N/A stealth/3000gt a nice cheap/bolt-on upgrade for us 1GA guys.  I paid $50 for my calipers shipped off the 3s forums. I used advance auto rotors with PBR Axxis metal master pads.

OK.  I have no idea what the year of the stealth was, were they all the same?  I.E. I just punch in any year of stealth?

All 2g AWD's(fronts) are also the same rotors as the late 1g awds.  Some systems have/had different part numbers for whatever reason.
Stock 6 bolt, 272/272, 7 blade HX35 w/ twin scroll manifold, old unknown name top to bottom FMIC, 1200's, single 255, e85, LC-1.

got them on today.  INSANE difference over the single piston brake setup.  I have never been so excited about slowing down.

I cant remember what supplier i went thru but I picked up a complete set of drilled rotors, ceramic pads and braided flex lines
front and rear all in one order, designed  for a 2g front caliper swap on a 1g. It was a ebay compny here in canada, cheap but fit perfectly and so far havent warped
