Need help with Cable -> Laptop-> Palm OS emulator
« on: October 28, 2011, 01:38:36 PM »
Hello all,

I'm trying to pull some codes off my 90' AWD Talon, and can't get my laptop to connect to the car....

I've just hooked up my Hakcenter Logging Cable to my Laptop and am trying to get it to connect to my Palm OS emulator running MMCD.  I have everything hooked up but when I test the MMCD it reads "Serial comm error."

I know this means the MMCD is not able to connect to the OBD I port.  I am wondering why.  I have a brand new Cable from Hak, so I know it is not that, I am thinking it is my old laptop which is the problem. I am running windows XP.

When I plug the cable in, it pops up "1G logger",but then I get a prompt to install new hardware.  I am wondering if I am missing some sort of Serial -> USB driver or something.  It is like the MMCD cannot connect to the 1G Logger.

I have never logged with this car before, everything looks to be connected correctly.  Any ideas?

MMCD v 1.8
Palm OS 3.5
M100 rom
M505 rom

My cables are auto-on by DTR pin enabling.

If the pin isn't being enabled, the ecu will not enter diagnostic mode.

You can run an extra wire between the green and black wire if you do not want the auto-on feature.
