Hey there....I hope this is the right place for this........I recently installed the IAT and MAP sensor in my car and fired it up on the dsmap code.......after a few turns of the motor it fired right up :-D.......but thats about as far as the good news goes at this point lol

So I look at a log on mmcd (via palm emulator) and everything is chaotic (kind of looks like emulation results in the jackal logger)(this is it just idling)

however when I data log in jackal mostly everything looks normal. (atleast not sporadic and chaotic) however the MAP stays at -29 in-hg regardless of revving the motor.

Also...I noticed that if I move my ecu the motor will rev and or shut off ......it seems like the smallest plug on the ecu is touchy...if I move it one way I can hear the mpi relay click and the car shuts off...if I hold it the other way it is fine..........

here is the MAP I got :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330545405840&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1182

and here is the IAT I ordered...the one I got has a black tip and 9/16 thread instead of 3/8 npt:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230433520160&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1547wt_939

I am running ostrich v1, currently running jackal rc 1.04 untill I get 5 posts so I can download 1.05.........i'd gladly take pictures of my wiring of the map/IAT into the MAF wiring harness but I just cut the old MAF plug off and wired them in directly using the guide on here...and had someone else check it so I think its right.....

Also this is in a 91 galant vr4...........any ideas?

Oh also when I first open jackal it always says there is non jackal information on the eprom...if I tell it to upload it or I try and download what on their I get some errors talking about checksum and or data array errors. If I change something (setting injectors to 510cc and gm 3bar map) I can upload successfully (or so I assume since the car runs....)

Replaced your ostrich batteries recently ?

Double check your map sensor wiring installation.

Hakcenter- Actually yes that was the first thing I did a couple of weeks, I assume the batteries should last a good while though right?

I will triple check over the wiring again tomorrow.....the only thing that I can think of that is "rigged" is the connector for the MAP.  I went to the junkyard to find a pig tail but I could never find the right one...found a bunch of cars with what appeared to be a map sensor with the right size plug but the slots were different than my MAP....so I just took a knife to the plastic and made two new slots and it slid right in :).....

Also thanks for the quick response :)

Quadruple check the ABC wires that connect to the maf harness.. etc etc, face and direction matter  8;)

Here are some pictures......if you have any questions please ask....but unless I didnt crimp a wire good enough or I was reading the colors wrong I think its wired right.........

MAP>harness
            A->6 Ground........................................(green black)
            B->7 Barometric pressure sensor........(green yellow)
            C->4 5V power supply for sensors.......(green red)
IAT>harness

            B->8 Intake air temp sensor............(Green Orange)

Check the map crimps, it is probably reporting zero.

You could verify if you can get your voltage tester in there, and verify each part to ground (Green Black)

With the motor off, key on, you should get somewhere around 1.56v for the output of the map sensor. 5v power in, and obviously ground.

IAT is a ball park, it is just a resistance measurement. So not much help there. Continuity check at best.

However as always, I suggest soldering and heat shrinking instead of crimping.

You are right, I was/am not getting voltage on any of the three wires going to the map....not even on the harness side of things......perhaps a fuse randomly went bad? If it stops raining I will go back out there and play around some, also the IAT was reading about 2.3K ohm on the sensor it self (logger had it close to 80*F). Thanks for those pictures/diagrams they were/are nice/easy to read :-D. I most likely will go back and solder/heat shrink everything but I want to make sure everything is working right first.

Actually I need to revise my statement.....since it wasnt raining on me I was able to play around a little with the wiring and realized at first I just hadnt pushed quite hard enough to get a good reading with the multimeter.......anyhow the main power wire the the MAP was between 4.8 and 5.0 V while the output wire at idle (gage shows about 16 in-hg) is at about 80 mV...with small revs I saw it go up about 300 mV consistently and about 500 mV once (I am using a digital multimeter so it is a little slow and my car doesnt like holding constant throttle right now..it leans way out).

No voltage output ?

it had voltage output just very low voltage....idle was 80 millivolts and small revs were around 300 and 500 millivolts....so if I assume a small free rev got it to 0 vaccum then the map was reading .5 volts.......but it consistently moved with the throttle which made me think perhaps I had tapped into the TPS but a slow rev kept the output around 82 millivolts so it seems to be outputting ....just at a really low voltage........lastly I did notice I had about 200 ohms of resistance between alot of my ground wires.

I'd check the sensor... it should be outputting quite a bit more.

any chance  I got lucky and got a 4 bar map sensor? I only ask because on the link I will provide below there is a similar graph showing a greddy 4 bar map having .5 volts at 0 boost/vac.

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=838957
post 8 , mostly down the page

worst case scenario I will just use the output on my plx setup instead....here is the volt/pressure graph for it

Car off key on voltage 500mV as well ?

I think either your sensor is bad, or the wiring.. something is wrong.

I assume you mean key on car off.....only my race cars run without a key :-P.........but your method is a better way to test 0 vaccum voltage.........which is................1.562 volts......if I fire the car up it goes back down to about 80 mV....and thats when my CEL comes on.
