nahh, I just frigged around with it for an hour at least, probably closer to two. The bottom buttons stay greyed out no matter what.
I tried to log TMO on the new laptop, but TMO doesn't go to comm5, so I reconfigured the Keyspan in its software to use Comm1.
After that TMO works like a charm. It even looks better

The only real problem is that the baro and O2 logging is not scaled correctly on the graphing part of the logger. They are so close to the bottom and top respectively that its very hard/impossible to read the graph. In the DRB2 part its great. I was able to get some tweaking on my cold start and free revving in reference to coolant temps and iat temps. But reading values in a table is not the same as graphing them over time.
However no matter what I did with the Jackal logger it did nothing but sit there and stare blankly at me. I tried to hit the lower buttons, I tried hitting log, poll, emulate etc. I tried different comm ports.
Friggin.
I am sure the Jackal logger cable would work fine, but I also know that others have it working on the Keyspan, and the keyspan and cable and laptop obviously work fine with TMO.
I guess I wait more time for the Jackal logger cable.
But just in the off chance that I am missing a simple step, please, walk me thru it.
