Hijacking, but I built the cable just like the diagram(I think. The diode must go on pin three, right?), and nothing.

this is the cable I made to run on my 90 talon back in 05... now it is used in my 89 colt with all 90 dsm electronics with no issues at all.. this is the cable I connected to his car with my laptop and it worked.. so I think its his dsmlink cable thats making it not connect.

Ok so today I got to use my friends keyspan adapter, null modem adapter, and palm cable and it worked great. we tryed the dsmlink cable on his computer and it did the same thing it does to mine so I dont thank that the dsmlink cable works.:whistling    Now I have to make a logging cable, I wasted my money :(

Desrigard my question about the cables Hak. I thought that this was the logger cables thread.   Just read it.

I just went to my local Altex Computers and bought a regular serial to usb, female/female (not sure what exactly it was) adapter and a null modem for $15.00 out the door, than using the obd1 to serial I already had for mmcd, I hooked everyrhing up and stuff just worked  :clap

you got lucky 1990talonfast!

Most people can't get any usb/serial adapters to work with any DSM datalogger but the Keyspan ones.  Autotalon also tried another brand and it won't do anything.

I hear the Hakcenter ones work really well and everything...
