Will a 1g dsmlink v2 cable work for logging? On jackal or even mmcd?

should, however it is a overly priced cable unless you got it for free :shakefist

I agree, for the most part about dsmlink. But they sell usb cables for 55. I would have to buy a keyspan adapter, for 35 and some risistors, and junk. Then I would have to biuld it and it would prolly look horriable. Plus I would have to either wire it into my aldl port or pay more for a aldl connector.  Id rather pay the extra 20 and have it look good and know that it works when I get it.

That, or you could find yourself an old pocketlogger cable, get yourself a keyspan adapter and null-modem, and you're done. :)  I got my keyspan off of eGay for $20 shipped, and the null modem for $3 shipped off amazon, lewl.  Can't remember what I paid for the pocketlogger cable you can usually find them cheap though since no one wants one.

I just bought A 1g dsmlink cable and it does not work. Could it be because I have a old version of jackel?  :rtfm

Yes.

Terminal Program
Choose the right com port
Change to custom baud
Change custom baud from 9600 to 1953
Change receive window from ASCII to HEX

Sending !, is the equivilant to 0x21 (RPM)

It should return 21 00, with the car off key on.

It returns to 21 00, but it still does not work I can start jackel with the loging cable in and nothing shows up. I cant click the items below? Steve with the colt showed me his and his items are gray and when you click on them they turn black, mine are always black with the cable in or out. This is killing me! :deadhorse

Is there nothing in the com ports ?

Make sure the cables in for a couple seconds, then boot up jackal, hopefully you see a list of available com ports in the drop down.

I put my cable and laptop on his car and it logges so I know the diag port works.
