Tuning with large injectors and jakal.

I know the bosch units used on OEM fords had some odd resistances making them hard to tune.  I’m currently looking at a set of aftermarket 160lb low-z precision injectors. Anyone had experience tuning these? My 1000cc delphis seem to be maxed out on my 16g setup at 35+psi. (DC above 100%). I’m switching to an HX35 so I know I’ll need quite a bit more fuel. I don’t want to go so large on the injector that I will have difficulties tuning. Also don’t want to give up a nice idle/cruise AFR. What would you all suggest?

5 speed, 6/4 Bolt, 3K on rebuilt motor deck surfaced. Weisco 8.5:1 pistons, eagle rods. OEM crank, factory port 1g head, valve job, head surfaced , new valve stem seals,  3G lifters, BC 272 cams straight up, HX40 turbo, spearco FMIC. TT supra pump, 1000cc inj, E85, SD Jakal.

1150 FIC's are about as big as you can go on gas, and try to keep idling reasonable.

If you switch to E85, you can go even bigger than 1600's.

I have FIC 1450's and my idle sucks I have to run more fuel at idle just to keep it some what smooth. I have to keep my afr at like 13.9 with my1450's. I had PTE 1000's and they idled like stock and could go as lean as 16.0 at idle an it would be smooth. I ran in to the same problem with my 16g I was sometimes pulling a 120% DC at arouned 35 psi.  :whistling
Stock 6 bolt, gerrat GT35R with PTE bolt on houseing, 2g manifold, apex n1 full exhaust, fic 1450's, wally 255, punishment fmic,
went 12.4 with 16g at 21 psi

Sorry, this is with E85.

 I had heard the 1600 wouldn't idle well even on e85. If that's not the case there is a set of 160's here for $200 i'd like to pick up.

Anyone care to post up your numbers for getting the car to run and idle on PTE 1600's and E85. i switching over to Jackal from DSMLink. Im personly not a fan of the DSMLink and have tuned a couple cars a year ago or so on Jackal. Pretty easy to use. But im gonna be on a T04Z turbo on E85 shooing for about 30psi.

HI-Z 1680's From fuel injector clinic.....

i run these on my car and LOVE them, Best money i have ever spent on the car......

idles like stock (other than the cams), great tip in and drive ability, very easy to tune, they just like the higher fuel pressure, 43.5 psi base....

i am on e85 with twin wally's in tank and @ 35psi boost with a 12.0:1 AFR my idc is @ 40% !!!!!

just remove the stock resistor box, cut off the connector and solder the white wire to all the black ones and plug the connector back in.....

False, Ray Peters ran 1600s on his car, took tons and tons of playing and playing.. finally just got upset at it and put moonshine in his car.

Idles great now.


I have the same issue with the boat 454. If idling pulse width gets near 2ms, it just starts choking up, and I can't really lean it out.. (been adding extra squirts). So I took it from 4 squirts to 2, and re-tuned it a bit, and idling is even better, with pulsewidth from 3.4 - 4.2

I'm running the BM 1650's on E85 and I don't have much problem idling.  Sometimes it doesn't fire right up like it should but it's not bad at all.

Not if you removed the injector box.

I thought the injector box was required since they are low z injectors.
