You're using an Ostrich (EEprom emulator). The ribbon from the Ostrich will plug in to a EEprom socket in the ecu... no chip needed....and yes both XP and 7 work fine.

Im sorry if the question is absurd but im coming from the honda world and when you finish tuning you save the bin to a chip when the ostrich is out.

It's a realtime emulator. That's why were able to tune on the fly, unlike other methods of tuning out there.
