I really dont get why you would want to try to look at that little screen and tune your car but to each there own.

Hack,  I've always wondered but never asked,  Is Java your primary programming language?  I would think .net would be a better solution, but then again I know you dont like Microsoft.   ;)

I've just started writing apps in vb to interface with PLC's at work.  I've got a long ways to go, but if I can help let me know.  All I can do is try.

I wrote dsmap v2, in .net

Then it had serious problems with nvidia drivers and its table implementations. So I scrapped it in favor of java. I don't see how .net would be a 'better' solution. My code works on any OS that has java, freebsd, nix*, mac osx, solaris, windows, etc. And it really hasn't had much of a performance issue, but I do a ton of work at load, instead of during operation.. to save cpu cycles.

But no java is not my primary language, its just a language I've been using for a long time now. I am still pretty fluent in c/cpp and c#

Java is simpler and just works IMO

Just thinking about what could come, being able to tune with your phone that would be just crazy and so cool to be able to do.

I personally feel that the only reasonable uses and logically using a phone with a car for, is those programs that hook up to OBD II cars to check CEL and sensor information.  I mean, I hate tuning the car with a little net book, let alone a fricken 3.5-4" screen.  It would be useless in my opinion.  On top of that, the CPU for a smart phone and a laptop are tremendously different, so logging is another story all together.  Not trying to rain on anyones parade, but the only, and I mean only device that has a chance of being used for this worth while is a tablet.  And maybe down the road when android gets there stuff together and has a decent tablet and mature OS, hint hint with Android OS3, then it would be worth it.  Again, just my opinion.....

not all Android phones have crapp CPU's  ;)

mine has a dual core and lots of ram, it would be fast enough I think.
