I cant figure out where to put the MAP vaccum or IAT
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:16:36 PM »
I am dumb founded as to where the two vacuum sources should be, I know the IAT sensor should be on the 2g TB elbow but it is way to thin for me to drill/tap into it, I don't even want to try it, I am still running the stock side mount but I will be running a VRSF very soon. How canI mount the IAT with out welding a bung on to anything? I really don't want to do that because a bung would be way to hard to find and no one around here would have one. Also I would like to use a pre existing vaccum line for my MAP, is there a vacuum source that I can use for my MAP that is not needed? like for the EGR or something?

Ok man, first off, I would suggest ordering the bung online, hell when I bought my IAT mine came with the bung.  I might even have an extra, but I dont remember.  Now you map source, you can either get a vacuum T and tee off the fuel pressure regulator or something else around there.  Another option is the P port on your TB, which is what Hak suggests all the time, but I never listen  yawn ......  There you go.  Simple as 1 and 2 :)  good luck.....

You mean the vacuum line on the farthest side of the fpr towards he driverside? Also the 2g throttlebody elbow is aluminum right? is that something that I would need a special welder to do or can any exhaust shop weld it on for me?

You can weld the bung on the TB Elbow with no worries. It is good enough. You need to find a shop where they weld aluminum coz the exhaust shop may weld steel only which is a different technology, equipment and so on.

since all the local aluminum welders wanted so much money to weld a bung for my iat I purchased a blow off valve flange and tube assembly that was 2.5 inches inner diameter, cast and thick enough to drill and tap. less than 18.00 shipped. see here

Use your pcv nipple for your map reading and then use vacuum from your intake tube for your pcv.

I am blown away buy my local hardware stores inability to carry the aluminum bung I need to weld up to my throttle body elbow, it isn't even worth the head ache of searching and wasting your gas, if your in the same predicament as I was than just buy the weld on bung online and skip the searching.

ridiculous.

Jackal is only two steps away, I already fabricated  up the harness for everything.

The harness came out awesome, it is a clip on type using four pin molex connectors and is long enough for me to put my sensors anywhere in the engine bay, used custom sleeves to make it look nice.
