First start up issue
« on: July 24, 2011, 12:02:29 PM »
Well finally got everything hooked up and ready, unfortunantly I've got an issue. My fuel injectors are not pulsing, I have checked over my wiring with no troubles found. Im using the base map 2.0 updated with my 750cc injectors and the base times corrected per hac's database.

What I got is spark but no injector firing, I have 12v to injectors the ecu is not pulsing the ground any idea's would be helpful. I've been pooring over the site and cannot find anything.

Thanks

check the wiring at the crank angle sensor. be sure the pin fit is tight. the computer grounds the injectors based off of input via the crank angle sensor. pin 4 is ground color is black. pin 3 is source voltage color is red. pin 2 is crank angle output and pin 1 is top dead center output.

Thanks for the reply, I've tried another cas still nothing, I am getting spark. When I view the datalogger (palm mmcd) I am getting a ms for injectors. I will give the wiring a check, but I did run before granted that was 2yrs ago.

New problem I cannot connect to my ostrich says error 1 has the thumbs down in the lower rh side. Its wierd because it worked about 5hrs ago when I changed injector deadtimes no problem. Now I have it in the car and I cannot get anything.

nevermind connected now, checked wiring at cas ntf this has me going. Gonna load test all the wires this coming week see whats going on.

Power transistor / modulator ?

Usually you can pop test them by putting the key to on, pulling the cas and spinning it to cause them to pop.

If it sparks, but doesn't pop, that'll be quite interesting. You said you verified power to the injectors ? Maybe their bad ? I thought the injectors grounded at the ecu with each injector having its own transistor ?

Rats get into the car and eat wires ?

Are you sure the fuel pump is running?  Can you verify the fuel rail is pressurized?

Fuel pressure is good I can verify that. ill try the pop test, I should not that spark is there but weak. Ive tried another coil, 2 power transistors, and a diff resistor pack.

The injectors are supplied power and the ecu grounds them. Hak I wish rats were the case but no Ive completely disassembled this car and put it back together. The injectors being bad is also hard to buy seeing as though all do not work and they are new fic 750s.

Im either missing an input to the ecu, or Ive got a wiring issue. Ill be out this week sometime to check continuity and perform load tests on the wiring hopefully I will have positve results.

Thanks guys

So when you went to pop test by the cas today, the injectors didn't fire but you noticed spark ? Wow..

Pins 51, 52, 60, 61, are the injectors.

You may need to run new wires or your injector drivers could be shot. Pull the ECU out, and open up the case look for captain fired drivers. Caused by captain bad ISC.

Check your coolant temp sensor connectors as well.

Ill pop test it tommorrow. I was turning it over with a spark tester, I pulled the plugs and no fuel or smell. I can read coolant temp and its within 3 degrees of my air temp. I really hope its not burned up isc drivers cause that would suck, I tried another ecu (non eprom) nothing special, still nothing.

I think I need to zero in on the cam sensor from what 1gdsmman said . According to the diagrams theirs 2 sensors a cam and tdc so Im wondering if ones for injectors and one for coil.

I can see a ms with the logger , rpm, air temp and baro.

Going to have to check continuity on the injectors and the ecu pins.  :shit storm

This may have been checked already but.. did you check the MPI fuse?  If there is no scent of fuel in the cylinders after unsuccessfully trying to start the car it would lead me to believe the injectors aren't firing or the fuel pump is dead.

You could also check to see if you have the isc pig tail pluged in to the injector resistor box. IT has happen to me I was just about to give up and seen I had the connectors backwards :whistling
Stock 6 bolt, gerrat GT35R with PTE bolt on houseing, 2g manifold, apex n1 full exhaust, fic 1450's, wally 255, punishment fmic,

So I went out to buff wild wings tonight had a few of their fine beverages. Sudden Im thinking alot clearer, I go over what slow1g had to say. I went out found that i had not swapped the ISC but the FPR connector. Minutes later hit the key she fired up like I had her running the night before just amazing lol.

What i had done was shortened the engine harness considerably so I glad I did not have to tare into all of that as its wrapped pretty nice in tech flex.

Idle was nice, with a solid 10.8 afr, that will need some work. Thanks everyone for your help and slow1g I owe you a beer  ;D
