Oil Pressure and Oil Temp-where do I tap?
« on: February 14, 2011, 01:47:22 PM »
Does anybody have any good info on where and how to tap for an oil temp and oil pressure sensor?  Obviously temp and pressure are important but I have no idea where or how to install a system to monitor these.

for pressure, you could install a "T" fitting off the stock sender, down by the oil filter housing, bottom of the timing belt end.  Probably temp there too.

Or you could go off the stock turbo feed on the passenger end of the head casting.

Sorry, I haven't actually done either, but those would be logical places imho.

Temps usually go in the oil pan, from what I've seen.
You could always reuse the dumby light pressure source.. useless anyways  :crywave

The best option I have seen is to tee into the dummy light.  The problem is that the threads are bpt and not npt.  With some teflon and 1/8npt tee, I have had good luck on my sentra and talon. However, there are many suppliers that have specialty tees that have 1 male bpt, 1 or 2 female npt and 1 female bpt for the sensor.
I'd suggest looking at prices and figure which is better for you.  Take a gander at you oil filter housing, there may be an unused hole that has a pipe plug in it. There are too many variations to tell you for sure, but if nothing else, searching dsmtuners may yield some decent results as what you need
