Evo 3 intake manifold question
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:25:49 AM »
Is this a direct bolt on to a 2g head or is there any special wiring or way it needs ot be hooked up to work?

The evo 3 mani bolts directly to the 2g head. Ports are the same. Great budget upgrade, especially when paired with the 1g tb.

The ports on the evo 3 match up to the 2g head
Small 16g at 17psi , full apexi exhaust, casey's fmic, tial bov, 650cc injectors, evo valvetrain, evo 9 pistons on 1g rods, arp headstuds, fel-pro headgasket, act 2600 w/ street disk, evo 8 fuel pump rewired, lc-1 wideband, and jackal.

Thats what I thought.  We was saying there is some special wiring that needs done but I believe he was thinking of the cyclone intake manifold.

Yea the evo 3 IM doesnt need any special wiring but will take different brackets for the coil pack and power transistor.

You can go either way with the manifold, if its a true evo 3 mani it will have a 60mm throttlebody opening. The other way is with an RVR intake mani, which is the same thing only the throttle body opening is I believe 54mm. I personally went with the RVR intake mani and ported the throttlebody to 60 to match my N T TB.

Most intakes that are advertised as an evo are actually RVR s and the port work is easy enough. Hope fully you get the coil bracket and power transistor I didnt and Im having a hard time tracking them down.

Evo3 does not require anything special.  A cyclone manifold does.  I have figured out a pretty decent way to get it running using jackal control and a valve and canister from a kia or a hyundai.  Let me know if you need any help with that

In order to make this work, I have to change 2 things;  one of them is the Laws of Physics.  Dammit..

1992 tsi awd, Jackal, JAW, FMIC, 680cc, 3 inch turbo back, 255 walbro, comp clutch and lightweight flywheel,  aem truboost, cyclone manifold.
