rocker arm popping off
« on: November 22, 2011, 07:23:35 PM »
I had been having a strange heisitation and rough running above 5000 rpms. I did some research saw a couple of people had similar issue and it ended up being that an intake valve rocker arm fell off. So i finally decided to pop my valve cover off to see and fix leaking valve cover gasket and sure enough number 3 cyl pass side intake valve rocker arm was awol. Found it hiding and popped it in. It ran rough at first i guess from the build up from that valve not opening and fuel being sprayed at it for awhile. But i kept driving and it smoothed out and now pulls smoothly to redline and much stronger. I also noticed gas mileage increased. If you have been chasing a weird studder or heisitation over 5000 rpms its worth a look.

Check your stem tip height.

Most machinist will grind valves with out addressing this.
