so load a different map.  its working fine, it has the base map open.

Its telling you not to use the fuel map to tune on, but suggesting you use the VE map for that.

you need to start tuning at the very beginning, with injector size, dead times, etc.

Then work on your IAT and coolant temp compensation tables.

Then you can tune for idle and all the cruise rpm/boost areas.

Its not simple, nor does it only take a few min, and its best if you have a partner to tune with.  One person running the computer, one person driving.

jackal logs, if you have a laptop you can get a usb logger... keyspan, or one of mine if their available

You are confusing even me.. lol  :shit storm

WHAT RESET BUTTON ? LOL

Jackal is a program... that you ran and key'd at some point. 3/20/2011. That is what you use against the ostrich.

The ostrich must be plugged into the laptop via USB cable. Then load up the softwares, if the computer doesn't make a new device plugged in noise when you plug in the ostrich.. it may have died.. /shrug ??

That little red button is the reset for the LC1, has nothing to do necessarily with jackal at all. The tune is still there.

If you reset the LC1 with the car running, you will need to do a free air reset with it again.

i hate to bring up this old thing of mine but i have a issue with this and didnt want to start a new topic. so i pulled my motor out to change some gaskets and put a new clutch in it. it sat for 2 weeks or so and now i have a check engine light and it isnt running like it did when i first got it. was wondering how long does the ostrich's battery keep when there is no battery in the car to help with it. will have to re install jackal or should i just try to do a tune on it? my computer still wont let me access the ostrich.

I guess it is possible that the battery went bad. Usually when the batteries go bad in the ostrich, it doesn't work in the car by itself, but if it is plugged in via usb.. the car runs till the ostrich is unplugged from the usb port.

Is there any errors in the visual log at the bottom right, when you startup jackal ?

If it doesn't have the auto-updater, you just need to download it from the original jackal thread.

I'd double check your map sensor vacuum hose connections and/or wiring.

thank you. now i will search for the original post of jackal unless my computer wants to try and do a automatic update. i was also wondering if your still making them logging cables for the laptop. i have something in my car but i dont know where to plug them into on the obd port. it looks like the ones other ppl have made and it seems like it might have a rgb port or what ever that other one is called that it looks like. thanks and sorry for all the questions.

like Hak said, look into something that you did when you put the motor back in.  Most likely thats the culprit, not the Ostrich, ECU etc.  None of that moved or was touched for the engine swap, or so I would guess.

My car doesn't get driven all that much and sits for way longer than two weeks sometimes with no problems to Jackal, Ostrich etc
