First time user logging issue
« on: November 08, 2011, 07:14:47 PM »
Ok so maybe I'm not completely understanding the software yet and it's completely my fault, but I'll run you through what is happening.

I plug the ALDL (Link V2) Cable into the Diag port and using a keyspan serial to usb adapter (driver installed) plug it into my laptop. I open up Jackal and it recognizes Ostrich (also plugged in via usb) and I can burn/write whatever I want. I then click the switch to logger button in the top right corner and choose the correct com port, which I verified in device manager. Now from there I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to do. "log" is grayed out. When I click POLL I'm not sure what's happening exactly, but the outcome is not being able to log.

I just went down this road. You need to click on the sensor you want to view, IAT, RPM,TPS, ETC.(just like in MMCD) Then click Poll. Then you click on the value to graph it then click log to log a run. BTW Make sure you go into option under the logging portion and make sure your adj. WB O2, so it matches your gauge's output values.

Ya I'm sorry I don't have a logging tutorial up. But you select the sensors you want (if they are grey they are not selected) then hit poll, which starts just a real-time feed.

If you want to save/log the data, you push log, and it will begin storing the data, when you finish logging push log again, and it will open up a save dialog, which will be in csv (comma separated value) format.

Well, that sounds really easy and I definitely didn't try that. Thanks again!

Ok, so far we've come to the conclusion that a DSMLink V2 cable does NOT work.

Made a cable per the directions in a thread on here and I am now able to log! Only thing I noticed is the GM3.3bar is reading a max of 16psi and the autometer boost gauge is reading around 22psi. Gauge is T's into the fpr line off the manifold and the map sensor is on it's own line off of the manifold. Now I know autometer gauges aren't the best, but I find it very hard to believe it's off 6psi.

There are ZERO boost leaks up to 30psi.

Suggestions?

Sensor scale is off, or if you are using a vacuum/boost it probably is that far off.

Do we have access to change the sensor scaling? Or is it something we have to just "live" with?

I write each scale in the software myself, you can always experiment with various sensors, it will not break how the car runs at all.

If you think your gauge is correct, I'd suggest probably using the 3bar and verify your sensor is a 3.3

Freescale 4bar matches the closest to the 3.3bar.
