LC1 problems
« on: May 14, 2011, 06:26:00 PM »
My LC1 is jumping around like a hopped up spider monkey and it goes from one extreme to the next, and somewhat in between. Some days when I idle, it goes strait to 7.4, which is super rich, yet I know the car is somewhat okay. Then, when I drive, it'll automatically go to 22.2. So yea,I think I need to program it a bit. I have re-calibrated it several times, and it works fine for awhile, then goes back to the same old same old. Kind aggravating.

So what are the voltages I need to adjust to in the LM programmer? Also, I think I need to adjust my narroband a little, because in Werewolf Logger, my o2 always reads 9.99 or 11.1 or something like that. Thanks

Narrowband should be completely out of the equation.  It should not even be hooked up.  As for the LC-1, I believe the parameters are 7.35-22.39.  I had to play with my programmer for a while to get it to read right on the gauge.  It read correctly in Jackal, but not on the gauge, until I programmed it.

It sounds like it would be wise to restart the calibration process, or at least review the connection between the laptop to the wideband.  I had a similar issue, but in addition to your issues, mine was also that the values that I set for the voltages would not save.  I emailed Innovate Support and they said that it was due to a "dirty serial connection" related to my serial to usb adapter.  He suggested that I download the latest drivers.  I did so and it resolved the issue.

I had an erratic wideband sensor on the boat not 3 weeks ago. It ended up looking almost fouled out from a rich condition.

Pulled it out, swapped in a spare, issue resolved. I haven't cleaned it yet, but I'm probably gunna just hit it with some carb spray and let it sit over night.

Lc-1 is the only wideband I have had experience with but she can sometimes be finicky.  I have had it just completely shut off and stop working while driving down the road.  Then I turn the car off, turn it back on and all is well.  Weird...

I install lc-1's and uegos all the time and from experience and fixing customers cars where they did the installs themselves the number 1 issue is the grounds. Always find a clean surface or clean the surface and always use ground washers.

Could the grounds cause it to start spitting an error code after driving a long time or hard WOT pull?  Seems when I really beat on the car, the LC1 suddenly stops reading and spitting an error code.  I am driving so obviously I can't write the code down but if I turn the car off, then start it again, LC1 goes back to operating perfectly.  I grounded as per theri instructions at a central groundling location, one of the bolts on the passenger side by the ECU.
