not sure what cams to look into
« on: September 01, 2013, 10:03:25 PM »
im still pretty new to the whole dsm world. im finally putting my motor back together this week, it was only deglazed with acl race bearings, total seal rings, arp rod bolts, arp head studs, manley springs and balance shaft delete. nothing to exciting. im going to run the stock cams for now untill i can save up for a decent set. i still want the car to be streetable and dont wanna loose much low end power. any ideas?

Why not stick with stock cams?

My buddy's car on e85 at 28psi with an hx35/40 hybrid is pretty gosh darn fast and he has stock cams.

Put it this way, I have a 3065 at 30psi and hks/delta 272's and him and I are neck 'n neck on a 40-130 pull.
1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD-Wiseco HD 8.5:1 pistons, Eagle rods, ACL Race bearings, 2g small port head,  GSC S2 cams, MAP Ultimate Duty springs/ Evo retainers, HTA DSM76 @ 30psi, FIC 1550's, Apex'i N1 turbo back exhaust, Konis w/ GC's, megan sturt bars, poly mounts/bushings

Kelford or GSC stage 1 cams, or HKS 264 cams.  Maybe the Forced Performance 1X cams.  Any of the main manufacturers that make cams for us will make a "stage 1" cam.  They will ALL be a large gain over stock cams.  While I like the stock cams, there are big benefits to be had with aftermarket cams.
