Coilovers
« on: October 23, 2011, 10:35:28 AM »
So I am looking to buy some new suspension components and it is a little overwhelming.  At first I was just looking to pick up a shock and spring combo, but then I realized that for the price of a good shock and spring combo I am entering into  coilover territory.  Which bring me to BC tunersnation is running a sale on them right now and they seem like a really good deal, I have read reviews on them from a lot of different peopel and everyone seems pretty happy with them.  On tuners they are getting bashed and lumped with Megan Racing and D2.  Some people say Megan Racing is made by BC but it is like their lower quality version.  To many choices.

I'm just looking for a nice street setup that will see occasional drag and twisty duty.

Anyway anyone running coilovers and want to post your reviews or thoughts on the ones I listed, feel free.

I can't say I've run any yet, but from what I have heard most of the coilovers under 800 are pretty garbage. A lot of them are the same with different company names.

Yeha that's what, I figured just seems hard to dish out 800 dollars for struts and springs when a coilover setup that is getting pretty good reviews by drivers of all types can be gotten for just as much.

I've actually heard pretty decent things about the Megan and K-Sport kits.  Pretty good setup for the price and you can order them with your own custom spring rates.

I'm pretty sure this car is running a set of K-Sports, which I've heard are pretty much the same as the Megans.  Just a different color and labeled differently.  If it works for this car I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work for us:

as cool as that black car is, good coilovers are more about autox/canyon carving/road course than drag racing.

So pretty much verdict is cheap coilovers are cheap coilovers that probably can't handle hard track duty (autocross, road course, etc.)  If i want to do that then get a decent shock and strut combo.  Cheap coil overs are all right for the drag strip though, if I want the real deal dish out the money.  Thank you for the inputs guys.
