e85 ethanol content sensor
« on: January 06, 2015, 06:42:19 PM »
hey hak id like to know if we (jackal or warewolf) users will be able to use the ethanol content sensor anytime soon, or if its even been brought up. i don't see anything about it. i think it would be great for people who have a choice to run e85 or a mix of it at any local gas station.

please if it is a stupid question i'm sorry but i still have not got to really use the software . i still have not got my  my ecu back from getting repaired. it struck me as there are no post about e85 excpet about the fuel injectors support anywhere

I don't own one, so it would be pretty difficult for me to code anything against it.

If you have a particular sensor in mind, post some information about it, and see if there is any white papers. I could simulate a 0-5v on a bread board to the EGR input.

Forgive my ignorance.  Is this in regards to the incorporation of a flex fuel sensor?

Yeah it incorporates a flex fuel sensor and automatically adjusts the mixture/timing based on actual content of ethanol in the tank.  It helps prevent having to worry about actual percentage of ethanol on your "E85" because it auto adjusts.  I think it's a good idea too, and it shouldn't be hard.

Then again I'm a forum cowboy 'round these parts.  So yeah.   ;D

The sensor I have in mind is the continental sensor can be had for about 65. But copied from online "the ethanol sensor outputs in square wave frequency. The output of the sensor is 50hertz for 0% ethanol and 150hertz for 100% ethanol."

The only thing I can think of that takes the hz is the factory maf. I have heard it also is able to tell the fuel temp however I don't have any info on that

This would definitely be a cool feature.  Shouldn't be too hard to modify the full throttle harness I have to add a line for the maf output that is used.

Is there any news on this coming to life at all? It'd be great to have flex fuel..
